The Neuro ICU RN focuses on closely monitoring and managing patients with complex neurological conditions, ensuring timely interventions to optimize patient outcomes.<br><br><strong>Key Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li>Assess, plan, and provide critical care for patients with neurological disorders, including traumatic brain injury (TBI), stroke, spinal cord injury, and neurovascular conditions.</li><li>Monitor and evaluate patients’ neurological status using tools such as the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), ICP monitoring, and neurologic exams to detect changes in neurological function.</li><li>Administer medications, IV therapies, and interventions specific to neurological conditions, including anti-seizure medications, pain management, and neuro-critical care medications.</li><li>Collaborate with neurologists, neurosurgeons, intensivists, and other multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.</li><li>Manage invasive monitoring devices such as ICP monitors, ventriculostomies, and arterial lines, ensuring their proper use and documentation.</li><li>Recognize and respond to life-threatening neurological emergencies, including increased intracranial pressure, seizures, and neurological decline.</li><li>Provide education and support to patients and families on managing neurological conditions, rehabilitation, and medication adherence.</li><li>Document neurological assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.</li><li>Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, ensuring effective communication and care coordination with the neurocritical care team.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Qualifications</strong> <br><br><ul><li>Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.</li><li>Licensure:</li><ul><li>Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.</li></ul><li>Certification:</li><ul><li>Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.</li><li>Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.</li><li>Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse (CNRN) preferred.<br></li></ul></ul>Wellspring Nurse Source Job ID #34069576.
