JOB DESCRIPTION:
This is a full-time, permanent position reporting to the General Manager, Purchasing Manager, and/or Shipping Manager.

The Warehouse Assistant will work in the warehouse portion of our factory in the order picking, receiving and shipping departments. The ideal candidate will be highly self-directed and able to cross-train and learn a variety of tasks in all three areas. DiMarzio, Inc. is in the process of changing and expanding the way our warehouse operates, and we are looking for a bright, motivated employee who will be able to grow and change with us.

This position is primarily a Monday to Friday, on-site job from 8:00am to 4:30pm at our facility in Staten Island. Overtime is not routine but is possible occasionally.

Salary begins at $18/hour, with a possible further increase after an initial performance review. Health benefits are included, and employees may join a 401(k) plan after one year.

SAMPLE JOB DUTIES (will vary from day to day based on needs of the business):

• Verify that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipping against documents
• Use manufacturing software to ensure that items for customer and vendor orders are properly picked, packed, shipped, or received, and perform computer transactions to record these occurrences
• Ensure that shipments are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles
• Verify the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against records
• Thoroughly check incoming goods for damage
• Ensure that goods are appropriately identified for routing to other departments within the factory, and that all appropriate parties are notified when goods arrive
• Prepare and keep records of goods received
• Fill shipping orders from warehouse according to customer orders and/or vendor packing slips
• Keep records of outgoing products and report short supplies to supervisor
• Store and rearrange warehouse stock as needed
• Occasionally take full inventory of finished product and perform transactions to correct any inaccuracies in computer database
• Prepare products for shipment or storage
• Learn the full DiMarzio product line in order be able to accurately verify content of both incoming and outgoing orders
• Apply labels or enter identifying data on incoming items

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to multitask and take on a number of diverse duties
• Extreme attention to detail and ability to identify and correct errors
• Ability to work as a team member with shared responsibilities and take direction as needed
• Previous warehouse and/or shipping experience is desirable
• Good general computer skills and ability to quickly learn new computer-based tasks
• Previous experience with warehouse, shipping or label software is a bonus
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English (both written and spoken)
• Must be physically able to lift heavy items, climb ladders, and stand for most of the day
