Job Description: Commercial HVAC Technician

Position: Commercial HVAC Technician
Reports to: Lead Technician / Operations Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time

Overview

Dynamic Flow AC and Heating is seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This position requires advanced technical skills, strong problem-solving ability, and a commitment to safety and professionalism while working on large-scale projects.

Responsibilities

  • Install, service, and repair commercial HVAC systems, including rooftop units (RTUs), chillers, boilers, cooling towers, heat pumps, and commercial refrigeration equipment.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and troubleshoot issues on mechanical and electrical HVAC components.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to ensure proper installation and repair.
  • Conduct system diagnostics and recommend cost-effective repair solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards, state/local building codes, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and project managers on commercial job sites.
  • Complete accurate work orders, service reports, and documentation.
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in safe working condition.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or HVAC apprenticeship preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in commercial HVAC service and installation.
  • EPA Section 608 certification required.
  • State HVAC license (if applicable).
  • Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment, building automation systems (BAS), and controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities.
  • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various environments.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with large-scale new construction projects (e.g., hospitals, retail, office buildings).
  • Knowledge of energy-efficient systems and smart HVAC controls.
  • Familiarity with commercial refrigeration systems.
  • OSHA 10/30 certification a plus.
