About the position

Responsibilities

  • Mow, seed, fertilize, remove snow, and perform general grounds maintenance and landscaping projects on campus.
  • Operate tractors and other related equipment for grass mowing, leaf gathering, and snow removal operations.
  • Use motorized equipment including tractors, hand mowers, hedgers, weed whackers, blowers, chain saws, jack hammers, field line painters, and grinders.
  • Plant and care for flowers, grass seed, sod, and landscape materials, including watering, fertilizing, sodding, trimming, and cleaning of lawns and flower beds.
  • Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance on grounds equipment and maintain records as required.
  • Maintain campus street and regulatory signs, and clean campus grounds of debris.
  • Clean and maintain campus storm and roof drains, and maintain campus roadways including blacktop repairs and replacement.
  • Prune campus trees and ornamental plants, and supervise students participating in grounds maintenance and athletic field upkeep.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in groundskeeping work and completion of the eighth grade; valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather and comprehend written and oral communication.
  • Valid PA C Driver's License.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull a minimum of 50 lbs and perform extensive hand coordination movements.
  • Continual visual attention required to operate heavy machinery; protective equipment is provided by the employer.
  • Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, and Teams is required.
