Job Title: Purchasing ManagerJob DescriptionThe Purchasing Manager is responsible for enhancing the company's profits by acquiring suitable goods and services at competitive prices through sensible planning and careful purchasing. This role includes handling the procurement of aluminum plate, sheet, and extrusion, sealants/adhesives/paints, and hardware.ResponsibilitiesComplete quotes and negotiate pricing, quantities, and lead times with local and international vendors for raw materials and hardware.Develop and continuously improve vendor relationships.Assist the quality department in managing the approved vendor list, ensuring all necessary documents are completed and approved.Lead negotiation efforts to transition high usage items from spot-buy to Vendor Managed Inventory programs.Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data to determine reasonable prices.Create purchase orders to meet all requirements and specifications.Monitor open purchase order reports to ensure on-time delivery and resolve any delivery issues with vendors.Communicate delivery delays and issues to internal customers.Highlight issues and suggest solutions with supporting data to higher management.Coordinate with estimating, planning, and engineering departments to find alternate sources when difficulties arise.Review material usage reports to manage optimal inventory levels.Evaluate current and long-term forecast projections to drive inventory accuracy and planning goals.Execute periodic evaluations to ensure vendors adhere to pricing contracts and agreements.Verify and process all purchase order requisitions from various departments.Assist planning by setting up all new material and hardware in the ERP system for addition to BOM.Review Work Center Dispatch reports to ensure all materials are on order and scheduled to deliver on or before job start dates.Manage exceptions reports by adjusting delivery dates with vendors to align with rescheduled job start dates.Regularly interface with Finance to set up new vendor accounts and resolve discrepancies.Provide payment information to vendors without open accounts.Oversee team members' daily duties to ensure timely and professional completion.Coach and mentor team members on accuracy, customer satisfaction, and cost-efficient solutions.Collaborate with team members to identify problems and streamline processes.Direct activities involved in stocking levels, inventory management, physical inventory events, and cycle counting.Oversee logistics of daily pickups and deliveries to meet customer demand.Essential SkillsPurchasingProcurementVendor managementNegotiation5 years of procurement and inventory experienceManufacturing experience (aviation preferred)Purchase order managementInventory managementData analysisAdditional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent5 years' experience in Supply Chain with emphasis in aerospaceExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to professionally manage confidential informationProven experience managing a teamSuperior organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple projects with shifting deadlinesHigh attention to detailBasic computer skillsThorough knowledge of Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel)ERP system knowledge preferredPrior work experience in purchasing preferredWork EnvironmentThe work environment is onsite with a team of 6 buyers.
